Gary Numan & Rock Supergroup Prophets Of Rage Chart New Top 10 Albums In The U.K.
Foo Fighters are back at No. 1 in the U.K. with their new album Concrete And Gold, which this week became their fourth to reach the top, but they aren’t the only act with a just-released title on the chart.
Just behind the Dave Grohl-fronted rock band comes new wave/electronic artist Gary Numan, who has charted yet another top 10 album. The legendary performer has now placed seven records inside the highest tier on the ranking, though his name hasn’t been seen between positions one and 10 since 1982, so this week must be a lucky one for the superstar. His new work, Savage (Songs From A Broken World), is his highest-charting title since 1980, when he last reached No. 1.
Ed Sheeran’s ÷ (Divide) is steady at No. 3, which remains the album’s lowest chart appearance so far. The blockbuster release comes in just ahead of previous chart-topper Freedom Child by The Script at No. 4 and Rag’N’Bone Man’s Human at No. 5.
The third and final new title that kicks off inside the top 10 is the debut self-titled full-length from rock supergroup Prophets of Rage, which launches at No. 6. The act features members from beloved bands like Rage Against The Machine, Audioslave, Public Enemy and even Cypress Hill. The collective released an EP last year, and ever since, they have been hyping a proper album, and clearly, the British public was waiting patiently for new music.
Producer, multi-instrumentalist, singer and songwriter Sampha sees his debut album under this moniker Process bolt to No. 7 thanks to the attention he and his music have received after recently winning the Mercury Prize, one of the most prestigious prizes in the music industry.
