Way back when, during the 'Rise of the Machine' some time in the spring of 1981, Rockin' Kurt and his Saur Krauts started pounding the well-rotten boards of the London Rock'n'Roll clubs and pubs. Initially the line up consisted of Jeff Harvey -- vocals, (Handsome) John Reddington -- guitar, Alan (Junior, later aka Maggot) Power -- saxamaphone, Robert (Boppin' Bert) Boustead -- bass, Mark (Rory) Lyons -- drums, and after seeing their second show, Paul (Thwack) Laventhol joined on geeter in time for the third gig in July of '81. The Vapors

Based in Guildford, Surrey, an early version of the band was playing the Three Lions pub in Farncombe when The Jam's bassist Bruce Foxton spotted them. The familiar line-up of David Fenton (songwriter, lead vocalist and rhythm guitarist), Howard Smith (drummer), Edward Bazalgette (lead guitarist) and Steve Smith (bass guitarist and vocals) took shape before Foxton offered the band a few gigs and agreed to jointly manage them with John Weller (father of Paul Weller).The Vapors were then offered a prestigious slot supporting The Jam on the Setting Sons tour in 1979. Simple Minded

Simple Minded's aim is to capture the sound and energy that Simple Minds produced during the 'New Gold Dream' and 'Tour du Monde' tours. Early rehearsal recordings rehearsals received the praise from the likes of Derek Forbes and Bruce Findlay as well as Simple Minds fans all over the world.
